Desire is a powerful and ever-shifting force that informs and shapes our most intimate relationships with ourselves and others. By drawing on the insights of Lacanian theory and the inspiration of Dickinson's poetry, I seek to capture its complex nature.
HOLD ME TIGHT
These performative self-portraits are my way of articulating my experience with growing older. Both females in the images are me. I photograph myself multiple times and then stitch the images together to create an exchange between past and present.
SURFACING
After a difficult period in my life, I found solace in the tranquil Finnish landscape. Imagery from daily hikes provided a backdrop for forming connections.
HOW THINGS ARE
As an extension of myself, my home houses my anxieties and fears, forcing me to confront my true self daily. From a broken vase to spilled milk or a drain caked in soap scum, the chaos of everyday life serves as a canvas for exploring the subtle moments where the internal and external collide.
